Planning Policy Statement 3 deals with housing. Two important changes have been announced: garden grabbing is to be thwarted through the reclassification of domestic gardens so they are no longer ‘previously developed land’ or brown-field land;
minimum housing densities, previously set out in PPS3, are abolished. Many will see the removal of density targets as a good thing and a clear indication that we will move back towards family homes with decent gardens and plenty of parking spaces. On the other hand, others will see it as another question mark as to whether we can achieve the growth in housing numbers needed, while balancing the interests of the environment. 2431Section 106 – Law SocietyThe Law Society has published a revised version of its model s106 agreement (this updates the previous version by referring to the new statutory tests, and gives guidance on procurement issues, as well as containing a dispute resolution clause). Note in particular that there are two new alternative versions of specimen affordable housing clauses. See www.lawsociety.org.uk.
