While there is no longer any need to have a HIP (since 20 May 2010), the obligation to have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is a requirement of EU law and so will remain. However, it will only be necessary to have commissioned an EPC to be prepared before marketing a property rather than actually be in possession of one.
