Indemnity insurance - consultants Print

The code of conduct was changed earlier this year so that the definition of ‘employee’ now makes it clear that consultants (or locums) who work non-exclusively for a firm are not employees. This is an important change from the previous position, so firms should check with their professional indemnity insurers that any consultants working non-exclusively for the firm are covered by the indemnity policy (or else they will have to arrange their own cover).
