Business rates – empty properties |

Currently, most empty commercial properties receive 100% relief from
business rates for the first three months that they are unoccupied, and
after that there is 50% relief. Industrial and warehouse premises receive
100% relief (ie there is no three-month limit).
The plan is for this to change later in the year. In essence, there will be
100% relief for the first three months for most empty commercial
properties (but then no 50% rate); there will be 100% relief for the first
six months in respect of industrial and warehouse premises (but then
